Privacy Policy

izi is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app made by IZI Assistive Technologies Inc. (Ontario, Canada). This policy explains what information izi collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Questions: contact@iziaac.com.

1. Who uses izi

izi is used by people who communicate with pictures, words and speech, and by the families, therapists and teachers who support them. Accounts are created and managed by adults, who add the people they support.

2. What we collect

• Account information: email address, display name and plan.
• Information about the people you support: what you choose to enter, such as name, photo, interests, communication needs and, for printable documents, details like emergency contacts or medical notes.
• Your content: boards and tools you create, photos and voice recordings you add, and requests you make to izi's assistant.
• Optional features: face recognition (only after the person or their guardian gives written permission in the app), custom voices, listening features and approximate location, each only if you turn them on.
• Usage information: how features are used, without identifying you. You can turn this off in the app.

What a person says with their communication board is not sent to us. We don't use advertising and don't track you across other apps or websites.

3. How we use it

To provide and improve izi, keep your information in sync across your devices, respond to you, and keep the service safe. We do not sell personal information.

4. Service providers and AI

We may use trusted service providers (for example for hosting, storage, sign-in, speech and AI features) that process information only on our behalf and only to provide izi. Some features use AI to suggest words, replies or tools; AI only offers suggestions, and what a person says is always their choice. Our providers do not use your information to train their AI models.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.

5. Storage and security

Your information may be stored and processed in Canada, the United States or other countries. We protect it with reasonable safeguards, including encryption.

6. Keeping and deleting information

We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account in the app (Account → Privacy), either right away or after 30 days. Deletion removes your content; we keep only what the law requires and anonymous statistics.

7. Children

izi is used by children with an adult in charge of the account. We collect a child's information only as entered by a parent, guardian, school or professional, and only to provide izi. A parent or guardian can review, change or delete it at any time.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or transfer your information. Write to contact@iziaac.com and we will answer within 30 days. You may also contact your privacy regulator.

9. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you about important changes.
